So… They’re asking why whatever it is is a heartache and a mistake. ![]() This is the point where you start thinking that the song might not make sense. Does she want them to remain separated? What the hell is it and what way is it supposed to be? And is she the one that’s now saying I want it that way or is it still Nick who wants it some way? See that’s just poor grammar and where punctuation makes a difference. How did we get here? So… They aren’t together? They can’t get on the same page? That’s what it sounds like. One of the greatest love songs ever written tbh. What do you want that way, Brian? When I think of fire and desire I think of Rick James and Teena Marie. They have you thinking this song is going to make a lick of sense. This was the first time they performed it live. If God created a pop song, it would be this song. And the video in LAX… Somehow it all makes sense even if it really doesn’t. Even the weird, repetitive lyrics somehow are perfect. ![]() It’s like the planets all aligned when they were making it. It’s hardly BSB’s best song, but just the way it’s constructed is perfect. IWITW is 3 minutes and 33 seconds of pop perfection. This song makes no sense, but who cares? It’s catchy as hell. I Want It That Way, first single off Millennium and the song that really catapulted BSB into superstardom (in the US at least). This one needs no introduction, but I’m gonna give it one anyway.
